From their childhood home in Brighton, England, Clifford has idolized baseball, partaking in the limited youth leagues in their area. The transition to college saw them move to the United States to pursue a Computer Science degree at the University of Washington. There, they linked up with classmate Ryder Stanton, who had spent their life in the Boulevard Park area. Their original intentions to get into the UW baseball team failed, and an offhand comment from Ryder about a friend "dragging him into some rec league nonsense" was all they needed to join for the inaugural practice down in Boulevard Park.
They generally have a pretty excitable personality, and can be seen bantering with teammates in the dugout and living off the adrenaline of tough infield plays. They now live in a downtown Burien apartment with Ryder and other teammate Iry Götz.
